Ok I filled the tires yesterday, checked the shocks everything good there. Took the bike out for a brief run to test, got it up to 50 for a short time side rd. couldn't really tell if it was better or worse.

I did try to duplicate the feeling I'm getting by wiggling the handle bars at about 40 mph, that appears to be the sensation I'm getting. I will continue to check the rest of the things you guys told me to look at if I get a chance, later today and tomorrow.

Check your pinch bolts on the lower triple clamp , that's how the forks feel when one or both shear off .

Just ran down they are in tact. I'll check them with the torque wrench when I get back. It's on the to do list. Need to go visit the folks. Check in on them.

OK been looking at the manual I'll be checking torques.

Here is my question in the manual it says the fork stem bolt should be at 84 -96 in. lbs. which changes to about 7-8 ft. lbs. why not just check that rather than test the fall back it would do the same thing, no?

You could. Loosen it, then retorque it.

Out of curiosity...did you make sure BOTH the front axle nut and the pinch bolt for the axle were tight?

Yup torque to specks, front and rear everything looks good.
I did notice that with 40 psi in the front tire I got the sensation at a lower speed as if i had wiggle the bars.

I'm coming up for the 5000mi. inspection and it's thrown in with the price of the bike so I'll keep digging, if I can't find the problem I'll bring it to they're attention.

Hopefully I can do more riding before winter sets in and get it resolved before next riding season.

I'll be gone til Mon. and it's supposed to be dry, been a little nervous about taking it on 495 the way it feels, but that's the best high speed Rd around, new pavement. b I'll give it a shot on Mon.
Thanks guys

I think that's a misprint ... should be ft. lbs. not inch lbs. The tighter you make that nut the less fall away you'll have , the bearings will be tighter . Thats the reason for checking the fall away as torque in itself doesn't set the correct bearing tightness .
