883 to 1250 conversion

I'm close to converting my '03 sporty to a 1250 cc from Hammer Performance. I'm hoping to be pushing 90 hp before Sturgis. What are some tips and tricks to squeeze out as much hp as I can, keep it reliable, and do the build well?

I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

The question has been asked many times, if you try searching ,the answer is there. The top right of the page there is a search box , type in what you are looking for and hit enter.

If you go bigger, it will burn more fuel...and with a small fuel tank and a distance like Sturgis, you will be stopping more often. The performance you gain , you will be sacrificing fuel economy.
Can you get 90hp from a Sportster? I'm sure, how deep is your wallet?

And Kieth Black pistons.. (I think thats the right name.) Cost my nephew about 3 grand just to find and fix, on top of the 2500 he had already spent.

His made a strange tapping noise, only when cold, then went away. In the meantime, one of cylinders was burning oil big time. By the time they found out what it was both cylinders were destroyed, luckily the indy had a couple they gave em at a good price. Rebored and I believe they did S/E too. This was a fiasco that went on all summer. That engine was torn down so many times if you walked toward with a wrench chit would start falling off, just so it wouldn't be wrenched on again (just joking on this part).

Sad state of affairs. I can remember Kieth building NHRA top fuel motors in the 60's. His name was golden.
