Metzeler tire

Well I finally changed out my front tire on my 2004 xl1200c.
I put a Metzeler 880 MH90-21 with 13,000 miles on the bike last spring. The Bike now has 29,247 miles on it.

I just replaced it with a Michelin Commander II.
I will have to see if it lasts as long as the Metzeler.
Here are a couple of pics of what is left of Metzeler tread.

I know some people would still be riding on it, but I feel better safe than sorry.
Especially when my wife likes riding with me.

Do you mean the bike had 13,000 miles or the tire? If the tire no offence, but I would have replaced it 16,247 miles ago.

Ward, don't you think you were a little rough on the Beaver last night?

the bike had 13k miles so he got 16,247 miles of the tires. pretty good in my book.

for me though, I like the look of the dunlops mainly because they look more like a cruiser tread. the metz and others look like a crotch rocket tire and I just don't like the look, but then again if they last longer than the dunlops I would go with them.

I'm not really in to how they look as long as they last and handle good wet ot dry without costing an arm and a leg.

Just changed the tires on my 2005. I bought the bike last year with 2800 miles on it. Just turned over 14700 miles. Rear tire was worn out, front still a few thousand left. Changed both to Pirelli MT66. I had no complaint with the Dunlops, but the Pirelli were a lot less money, and I've had good luck with them in the past. We'll see.
