for those that smirk at sportsters , think back
pull your head out of there . Steve McQueen drove a 650 cc bonneville in The Great Escape , how cool would it have been if he had rode a HD , but it would have had those American good looks and not fit into the movie right , jmo.

Did they make McQueens bike to look like a BMW cuz that's what it looked like.
Years later I realized I was subconsiously emulating his riding style (on my BSA and Sportster)
By the way, I still think that bike (sportster) was hot and only now, the stock full size HD such as my Heritage can keep up with it.
(I could be wrong . . . . it's been a while)

I was watching the Cesar's Palace EK jump this morning, and here, he did that on a Triumph. I thought EK was strictly HD.....

I would have too.
I SWORE EK rode nothing but HD and would have lost a cash bet on that one.

You're right, I didn't believe you. But to your credit, any other loser I would have blown off as wrong and not bothered to research.
Musta got a big check from the folks at Triumph.

I think a better argument would have been "for anyone that smirks at Sportsters... maybe you should read the history of Harley Davidson's longest running model that is still being produced today..."
