21" compared to 19" front wheel?

I'm looking to put mag wheels on my 05 sporty and I see there is alot more 21" available compared to the 19" it has on it. Just wondering if I can switch to the 21" and secondly does it change the front end rake enough to make a noticeable change in handling?

Yes, without a tire.

The sidewall aspect of 21" tires makes up for that difference and It ends up moving the front up less than 1/2 half inch, if that.

Mine was a 7/16" height difference top to bottom, so half of that 7/16" is the ride height it was raised at the axle. (almost 1/4")

Your 19" tire, is a higher profile than your 21" tire. The 21" is made lower, (80-90x21, 0r a 90-90x21) depending on what you want.

You need a 21" with a narrow glide hub and and as long as you get the right year as to match the bearings, (3/4" ID vs 25mm ID) it's a direct swap.

For your 2005 Sporty, you'll need a wheel off a 2002 (0r 2003) or newer bike, like an 883C or a 1200C sporty. A newer Dyna (1999 to 2004 or 05) wheel will work as well, as they also had the 39mm front end and used that same wheel.

Note the fender clearence for both 19" and 21". Fender clearence remains the same and the height difference between a 19" Avon MKIII Speedmaster and a 21" Avon Venom 80-90x21 is about 7/16" taller, (for the 21") total, and actually, a lighter wheel in comparison.

At 7/16", (less than 1/4" ride height change) that barely changes rake and trail (increase) enough for almost anyone to even notice it and certainly not feel.

19" (note the sidewall height, compared to the 21" tire)

21"

Comparison:

Nice way of explainin' it Dave. I knew the sidewalls were very different but not how much...the 21" sure looks cleaner...
