883 engine noise

After comming from a Suzki to a 883 sporty The engine is nosiey and it sounds like crap. It sounds like a mouse in a cage going around. But at a idle it sounds fine. Is this normal. I just turned 550 miles.Do i bring it in so they can hear it or wait till the 1000 mile check up. Any help would do.
Thank You

sporty engines are a noisey damn engine. they do sound like chain driven rat cages. but rest assured, they are a solid engine, and provide 1000's of miles of good service. just stay up on the maint. and you'll be good to go-many will say thats just the hum of the harley.
block components and valve components are built to fit into a full size v-8 engine! they do make noise. but their tuff as hell!
love my 883, have 8.5 k on it and goin strong!

I've got 12,500 on my 883. The engine noise bothered my at first untill I realized that I could hear it because the exhaust noise was so soft. The 883 does not have a noisy engine, it just has an exhaust system that is too quiet.

lil bro has an 883, his engine was noisy too, untill we changed his pipes, quieted it right down, kinda like when your car engine starts an odd squeel or rattle, if you turn your radio up all the way, the engine noise stopps, lol

just to change up the conversation a little Im a first time harley owner and I have a 2006 883 custom sportster and I dont have the money to spend right now, but I want to make it louder and still keep the torque/hp the same or get alittle more. what can I do to my bike to make this work and not have to rejet the carbs, change the pipes and all that.

My 883 sounds great! Strong and smooth. However I grew up on a farm driving my grandfather's 1945 two cylinder John Deer which had not seen a muffler in twenty years. My sporty doesn't seem loud at all...... What, did you say something???
