Buffeting wind with windshield

Ok, so I got a National Cycle windshield for my 883C, it's a streetshield - looks like the classic Harley windshield, 20 inch high, 19 inches wide, which puts it level with my nose. That part is good. I put it on fine, then took it out for a ride. The wind goes above my head ok, seems like the problem is the wind coming from below and from the sides and buffets my head. Besides taking the windshield off any suggestions or possible improvements?

well, i'll take this one on, since i've been choppin on 3 different lexan shields since fall of last year, and i finnally have it dialed in.
my 883 sporty always buffeted really bad with the stock hd shield.
the same size as yours i think, so i pulled that sheet out of the mounts, and cut a much smaller piece and put back in. no need to tell you how that turned out. :
then i cut a new piece 2 inches under sized, all around the shield, and got better but mixed results, again :
so i got really depressed cause this was turnin into a 12 beer job, and i was no further ahead.
then i decided, yeh i know, brace yourself, to cut the factory 1/4 thick shield down to what i believe to be the correct size.
i removed 1 inch of lexan from the entire outer edge using my handy dandy ryobi coping saw!
tried it out, and
hit the sweet spot!
now i run 70 mph,and the air stream is perf!!
so if your brave! give it a go!

Try tilting the shield if you have room.

valid point for sure!
i'm unable to tilt my shield due to rigid mount configuration.
if yours will tilt, try 2-5 degrees. it will make a change.

I have exactly the same issue with the wind coming from under the windshield but the thought of cutting up a 95th Anniversary windshield makes me cringe. There has got to be another way.

there is,
remove the original shield from the mounts and install a new piece of lexan.
i've read up and heat bent several pieces of lexan over the years.
it takes a bit of work, but it does work well.
you can get a piece of lexan big enough to make two shields for under 50 bucks, and its the same stuff that your bike has. got to remember, harley doesnt make the shields they use.
there all built by somebody else.
that somebody might as well be you and me!

Thanks for the replys. I rode the bike to work last night and with a little experiment found that it was actually the wind coming over the windshield and hitting my helmet. The windshield actually has no adjustments for it, but I'm going to try putting some spacers behind the upper connections to try to tilt it forward. I'll post how that goes. If that doesn't work I can cut and bend some material at work, I'll be using aircraft window material, and can cut and bend it as needed.
