Bigger engine?
Hiya, wondering if HARLEY makes a larger motor that will bolt into my 05 Sportster. Motor was coverted from 883 to 1200 at purchase and has stage 1 air cleaner and carb mods and Screamin Eagle exhaust. Debating on whether I should take this engine to its maximum output (which is?) or upgrade to a larger HOG, I love how easy this bike can be thrown around though so I think I would rather see how much I can get out of a engine in this frame. What about a Nitro kit?
Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated but having said that this is a street bike and my first HOG, so I also need it to be tame enough that I don't have to screw with it all the time. I would rather ride than wrench!!
Thanks Bear

Forgive me, but what about a 1200cc motor isn't enough?
I admit I do not have a Harley yet, and have never ridden one, so I cannot comment. But my first bike was an 1100 Katana. My next was a Honda Magna 750. That bike was a fast S O B, and was only a 750. I have ridden a Sabre , Virago , Shadow 750, etc. I don't remember ever not having enough engine, or power on any of these. I guess I don't see what having a bigger bike makes a difference. More top end? Hell I would never ride much more than 75-80 anyway. Never invite the man into your life if you can help it.

Well... for me and I think alot of folks there is no such thing as enough, I always want more torque, power and speed and I'm sure no matter what I build or have built it will always be that way, I'm one of those people that is never satisfied, to me that is a way of life. I also used to ride Honda's and when I finally converted to Harley I was blown away, its not just riding any more, it has become a whole new way of life and I love pushing my limits!!!
I was a member here a while back and during a current seperation I lost my id etc so I just joined again and hope I will get some good ideas that are cost effective as I got some awesome info from guys on this site in the past.

155" S&S Wedge. Might have to do some frame mods but you'll have plenty there..........

Nitrous. If you have a place to mount a tank,
that's the most practical option.
Nitrous is a good reason to consider some bags.
It would be cheaper by far, it will get you more power
than you can handle, and it's only there when you want it.
Won't effect cruising, mileage, commuting,
any of the times you're not being nuts.
