I am debating between the following rear shocks. My riding is aggressive but mostly because of speed and acceleration but I do want the ability to make tight turns at a good rate of speed (in the Midwest, you don't get the opportunity much, but still). I don't want to have to avoid potholes (impossible in Chicago) and all that. I like a firmer ride but I imagine I can adjust pre-load to get that on any of these shocks. I want all black and want to lower the bike about an 1", but I suppose I don't have to. I care about looks and performance. I don't care about how far down I can tip the bike - I will deal with the limitations of a lowered bike if I decide to slam it.
Works Trackers in black
-
Street Bike Motorcycle Shocks
- Can get them in 12" with DRS or 11" with SRS
- DRS = dual-rate spring; SRS = single-rate spring
- The black is mostly matte black, like my paint job
Progressive 440s in black
-
Progressive Suspension - Performance Suspension Components for Harley Davidson, Honda, Suzuki, Polaris, Yamaha and Kawasaki
- Can get them in 12" or 11.5", both are progressive rate springs
- I would get the standard-rate springs given my weight and riding style
- The black is gloss black and a stupid Progressive logo is printed on them
Öhlins 36E, spring is black
-
Ohlins
-
Dyna/FXR/Sportster Ohlins
- Can get them in 12.25", can't find the 11.5" for sale
- Don't seem to be progressive rate
- The spring is black... I want all black
Any suggestions for the front end would be well received, as well. Right now Progressive is offering a free front end kit if I buy the 440s. Not bad, but not like those front end kits are expensive.
