Mid Glide Trees
I have been doing tons of research and i can't seem to find to much info on these. I am wondering if i went with the mid glide on my 98fxd and kept my 39mm tubes if i would have room for 16in wheel and be able to keep my stock brake setup. im not crazy about the 19in wheel thats on it and i hate the headlight mount. so this would cure both of these issues. The nicest set i could find are resonably priced compared to what else is out there and they are very close to home, right in NH. 39mm Mid Glide Triple Tree Conversion Set- Black*::*Triple Trees*::*Motorway Engineering Co.

ya might be able to find an entire front end (trees wheel, brake, etc on abey for an FLST.. would give you the 16 in front wheel, and a beefier look overall
but keep in mind that the tubes on an FX are generally 2 inches longer than on an flst

Go to J&PCycles - Keeping the World on Two Wheels! and get a wideglide conversion kit. I have one on my 1995 Dyna, and run a 21" wideglide wheel, with my stock brake set up, and my stock 39mm fork tubes.
Be warned, a wideglide conversion mounts the fork tubes differently, under the upper tree, not in it) so either cutting some internal fork spring off , or adding a Progressive Suspension lowering kit will be necessary. If not, the bike will lean over too far on the kickstand. I dropped my front 2 inches, and the rear 1".
Here's what I have: Wide Glide Conversion Kit

thanks guys. I thaught of running an flst front end. (one sitting in my fathers garage from his fatboy thats got a springer. but ive been told by some buddies that running an fl front end on an fx frame makes for a sloppy front end and loose and tippy low speed riding. which i do not want) Now dave correct me if im wrong but i believe the vulcan ones i posted before still allow the tubes to go through the top tree. And the look im going for would be for the lower legs to be a nice close look but with a 16in wheel. now since theres no way to fit a 16 in the regualr narrow glide i wanted move them apart as little as possible. my only conundrum is wether or the 16 in wheel with stock brake will fit between the midglide which is 8.437 inches wide.
stock is 7 inches wide glide is 9.85
thanks

Either way, you'll have to play around with wheel spacers, and spacers to mount your fender. It's not that hard.
If your trees allow for the tubes to mount through the top tree, then no need to lower anything.
