Spoked Wheels
Anyone have any tips on how to remove the wheel weights off of a spoked wheel?
Those things are on there good. I tried to pry them apart with a screw driver, and pull them off with a pair of pliers. Those things are on there pretty good.
Thanks.

You should get them to slide up off the nipples then they should simply slip off the spokes.
You over-engineering this RJ?

The issue is sliding them off the nipples. I used a screwdriver to wedge them off, and they won't budge.
I think they'be been on there for 8 years now, and it's just a PITA.......

They are probably oxidized in place. I don't know how I would do this without leaving any marks. I guess I would try and put some protection in place and then pry away from the wheel while twisting the weight with some vice grips. Very gingerly.....just trying to break whatever is gluing them together.
If you have a chisel you might try carefully hammering it in the slot as a wedge to see if that will break them free.
Anything I can think of is fraught with peril though. I doubt it would work, but you might try a bit of penetrating oil.

Heat RJ - heat them up with a propane torch to mekt the oxidation, as well as to make the leas softer!

Thanks Guys. I used penetrating oil, then the torch idea. Guess what happened?
When my hair grows back and my vision clears, I'll get back at it........
Kidding of course.....

to get the weights off
you must slide the toward the center of the wheel, not out but up & they come right off. They fit over the nipple
