rear wheel steer

Just wondering if anyone out there has experienced phenomena called rear wheel steer. I have a 06 street glide when cornering the handle bars begin wobble about 70 mph, is this due to what I heard rear wheel steer. I came across one members thread Johnny he had a link to a swing arm dampener on e-bay HARLEY TOURING CHASSIS STABILIZER 2002-2008 has anyone installed one or know anything about them or am going down the wrong avenue with this.

I think you're on the right track Telman, there have been several threads here regarding that exact issue, and if I recall correctly, the stabilizer has a dramatic effect on the handling. Search the site for "swingarm" threads etc. I know that far more will come up than I could tell you.

Most reports I recall were good, and in addition, a few of the posters installed the swingarm stabilizer, as well as the fork brace.

this solved the "wag the dog" effect, as well as the "wag the tail" effect.

The best of both worlds at the end of the day...IMHO...

Good luck with the search......g

Just wondering but ...you ever check your air pressure in your tires... When mine starts feeling funny, 9 times out of 10 my tires are a little low... Just saying...

Prior to the new frames in 2009, Harley's touring bikes felt like they had a hinge in the frame. The new frame really cleaned up how these big bikes handled, particularly when hard pressed in a corner or when dealing with road defects.

Generally, fork stabilizers do a very good job of improving handling on just about any motorcycle. I have no experience with the aforementioned swing arm stabilizer though.

checking air tire pressure was the first thing i went for...i mean this bike only has 7K miles i wondering what the hell could be wrong... i went Harley and mentioned what was going on i suggested a steering dampener for the front handle bars and they looked at me like i had horns going out of my head, i didn't think my idea was be to unrealistic.. shortly after that i herd about the rear wheel steering problem.. there are many types of bolt on brackets ranging from $99.00-$600.00 dollars no idea what to get.. all i know that sometime you get what you pay for but they all look the same too me any way

I have heard this to be a problem for many Street Glide riders, so much so that H-D completely redesigned this area for the 2009 and newer baggers. You may want to check out the website: Home and see what ya' think.
