Removing bottom Fork clamp/ triple trees

Hi Guys

I got a 1989 1200 sportster which is my first ever Harley Project, I have only ever worked on Ducati before. Can anyone tell me how to get the lower fork clamp off the headstock spine as I need to take it to the polishers. I have the top clamp off no problem and removed the circlip on the bottom but cant for the life of me get the bottom clamp/ triple tree off the spine.

Many thanks

Nick

I'm assuming you mean, taking the steering stem out of the lower tree? It's pressed in. Your polisher should be able to work around it. Afterwards, considering the bike is a 1989, for less then $30usd, replace the bearings anyway....

I'm not positive that it's a "removable" part for servicing, like some other bikes.
