1985 Evo Front & Rear Fenders
Hi Guys
Need your help please.
I'm prep. my 1985 Evolution Engine Classic Belt Drive for paint.
I'm doing all the sanding myself. Got the fairling off, both saddle bags off, backrest off, will take the tank off with no problems did it before.
Problem(s)
How and what do I have to do to TAKE OF BOTH FRONT AND REAR FENDERS ?
From what I've seen on the rear fender. The saddle bag guards are hooked-up to the fender which is hooked-up to the muffler from what I've seem. I've been taking pictures of every part, nut and bolt for referrances.
As far as the front fender is concerned man, I just don't know if I got to bleed the forks or what
Any help in this most important areas will be GREATLY APPRECIATED GUYS
I will not attempt to remove the fenders till I hear from you guys.
THANKS GUYS
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Until another answer I would suggest investing in the service manual.

The rear fender is exaclt what you states: Bag removal, bag supports, unplug wiring under seat, unbolt from the fender struts and carefully slide out. Depending on the model, I like to place the bike on a lift, unbolt the rear shocks and take the fender struts off as well, as it reduces the chances of scratching the new paint, come reassembly time.
The front fender is actually the easiest..... 4 bolts. Disconnect any wiring for the front marker light if you have one, and undo the 4 bolts that go through the fork legs. There's no fluid exchange or anything like that. Lift the fender up, then slip it forward, following the contour of the tire. You'll neeed to unbolt any front fender rails or bumbers first if you have them.

Hey Dave
I got a ' 85 Full Dresser Evo. Belt Drive Classic FLHT.
So, your telling (Thank GOD ) that I have to jack the bike up first.
I figured I'd have to do that (and make sure the sucker don't fall over.)
Dave, do I have to DISCONNECT THE SHOCK(S) top and bottom
I have all the Nuts & Bolts loosened with: Penertrating Oil and there's no problem there.
I don't know if I mentiong this but I'm going to have the bike painted and I'm doing ALL THE SANDING. Its been an experience so faaaaaaaaaar (using 400 grit paper wet & dry)
Man, now I know why its cost so much $ $ $ $ to have your bike painted ~ its all in the prep. work. But its my first time doing this and I'm doing a pretty good job getting everything ALL DULL
Now thanks to guys like you straightening me out on; JUST HOW TO TAKE THE FENDERS APART AND WHAT TO DO AND NOT DO.
Dave, if there's anything that you might have forgotten please don't hestiated to post it 4 me.
I'm not going to do any taking apart of the fenders YET. Want to see if you or the other GREAT GUYS got anything to ADD.
Take Care Dave
GOD BLESS YOU MAN : -)

1.) You don't HAVE to, but it makes it easier to get under the rear fender to hold nuts, and take the rear dender off.
2.) No. Not if you're not going to take the struts off. If you're going to take the struts off, then the shocks need to come off, one side at a time. Jack the bike up, take the right shock off, then the fender strut, then put the shock back on, with the bolts finger loose.
Then, procede to the left side and repeat.
The turn signals might have to be undone (wiring) and taken off as well. Not sure...
3.) Without the bike in front of me, it's difficult. Hope some of this helps.
