Convert to Street Glide
I have a 2000 Electra Glide that I would like to convert into a Street Glide. I don't feel like spending the $10K to trade up for new. Does anyone know of any good articles or info on this subject out there? I like the cleaner sporty look of the Street Glide. It would also be nice to get an 1" closer to the ground too.

lower the rear about an inch or so, change the seat, shorter windscreen, possibly new wheels, and ditch the tour pack, done.
may be different due to years, but street glide and electra glide have same frame, etc

You won't regret it. I just started stripping down my 09 UG and as I take something off the ride keeps getting better.
I've lowered the rear an inch and the front 2 inches. Installed detach kit for rear trunk and found a RK taillight assembly that flips lic plate on bottom side of tail light etc. Found new RK seat as well.
I will warn you that its not a cheap process. I'm prob at least $1k into my project.
ENjoy!!!
I hadn't lowered the bike yet in this pic.

THanks for the compliments!
My next project is removing the chrome railing around the front fender. I would remove the rails around the bags but it would leave holes in the crash bar in front of the bags, which I will prob leave in place. I'm looking for roadking rear crash bars to solve this problem.

I have hope to also remove my rail bars, but I also have add-on racks on the lids of the side bags, 3 holes in each. Not sure if I can plug them with a screw or go for the plug and repaint. Looking at removing the fender railing as you mention too. I think part of the program is to remove the driving lights and do something different with the turn signals. I havn't put a lot of planning into this yet, still out there getting ideas. Can a person add the mirrors to the Electra fairing in some aftermarket way or is this all different on the Street Glide?

I'm sure you can add the mirrors somehow but the moulding is different on the SG fairing in order to house the mirrors.
It's a good time to freshen up the paint so plugging and painting the covers isn't a bad idea. I'm not sure how much of our fender railings actually support our bags so I may leave them on and have them powdercoated black. I like my driving lights so I'll prob leave mine alone but I know that they're easily taken off.

Hi Donutsok, that is a good looking bike you got. One questioni for you if I may; what road king seat is that? I've been looking to replace the seat on my 09 Ultra and tought the RK seats did not fit.
Thanks,
Sparctek
