Air Intakes ??
I've got a stock 09 Ultra that I'm going to install Vance and Hines Monster Oval Slip-on mufflers on along with a Vance and Hines FuelPak. My question is I would like to use a Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Air Cleaner in my upgrade. Will I get as good of flow as one of Vance and Hines Air Intakes ? I would really like to use to use the stock HD Cover as I don't care for the looks of the V & H Air Cleaners. Thanx....

I went with the Ness Big Sucker Intake and I was able to use the Stock Chrome Cover with it.

Your engine can only take in so much fuel on stock heads, cams etc. Even with the stock aircleaner, I'd be hard pressed to believe that the engine "starves" at high RPMs. I'd vote for the SE air cleaner at this point, although, I'm a little disappointed in the SE filter media, when compared to K&N's media, when placed side by side. The SE is thinner and "cheaper" IMHO.
Keep in mind, any "OPEN" airfilter is exposed and can suck in water if caught in the rain, despite the little "socks" that come with Ones like my Forcewinder, or the Heavy Breathers. They're also exposed to more road dirt.
I like the idea of having a quality backing plate, with internal head venting ports and nice, touned venturi entry, wiith a stock air cleaner cover over it. It protects it from rain, excesive dirt and still looks good.

Thanx Dave: How do you feel about using the Arlen Ness Air Intakes that also use stock covers ? And now that I have your attention...LOL What would be your take on the V&H FuelPak vs the Power Commander V ? As you've read I'm not doing anything too serious to my bike. Appreciate your feedback as well as the rest of the group. I'm learning alot here. Thanx again.

I had an Arlen Ness intake that I used a stock air cleaner cover on. Loved it. Nice fit and finish, quality harware and a terrific design with airflow in mind.
Went with Forcewinder for a bunch of other reasons, cause I also added a T-Max fuel adder to it and a bunch of other stuff, but the Arlen Ness unit is now currently on my neighbor's RK and he loves it as well. Excellent filter media (SE's filters suck IMHO, when compared to K&N) and nice fit and finish.
As for the fuel management: Power COmmander-V. You can always get the add-on down the road, making it a learning, wideband sensor fuel management system, and it allows the bike to "Learn" how you ride and make adjustments, like the T-Maxx system does, only cheaper.
The technology is getting cheaper, as the newer models come out with more and more ideas. You'll likely have more options come spring time, too.
