Rocker box issues?

Just reading a v twin forum- showed 88's r-box covers rubbing on rockers! Anyone had this problem? I know they originally had problems with the cheap chrome coming off those plastic chrome covers.

Yeah...heard about it.

If your replaced cams exceed a certain lift, it causes the rockers to hit the insides of the rockerboxes. I don't believe HD provided for that with certain models. I thought it was CVO bikes....

The fix I read about was to take them off and grind a little of the material away to gain the proper clearence. That's exactly what guys are doing when adding high lift cams to their engines anyway.

88 rocker box covers

The stage two kit was installed by the stealer- literally- they tried to keep all the original stuff (0) miles. (bastards) and give me old shit (different) fro m another bike. My problem is these are people that are supposed to know WTF they are doing, and what with. before I read that article, I had never heard anyone talk about this.... Thanks Dave for your input.

If you paid the dealer to install the kit the dealer owes you all your OEM parts back , they're yours , you paid for them in the original purchase price of the bike . Unless you had a trade deal going before the install of course .

The dealer brought out boxes w/ new (OEM) stuff- I looked at the jugs and pistons and found they " made a mistake" then they brought out the right ones- probably from a techs pick up. Still gave me an old cam ( didn't find it til much later to catch them). Watch out for those dealers around Stl- MO.
