Café fairing

I have a 2009 Road king FLHR and thinking about switching out the windshield for a café fairing. Does the café fairing offer more wind protection then the windshield?

It appears the fairing uses the OEM windshield quick release system for easy on/off install.

If it is simply a cosmetic change, what are your opinions of the look?
