That's EXACTLY what I'd do. Of course, you're paying for all the chrome and the usually pretty detailed and expensive paint work that comes on a CVO bike.

I'd rather buy a base bike, mod it to my EXACT specs and ride that.

If you want an "off the showroom" floor custom, that's the reasoning behind the CVO models. Some guys dig that I guess.

If it's what you want and you can afford it, the answer is yes. There are probably as many people who will say "no" as will say "yes". A lot of people who don't own Harley's will say that NO Harley is worth the price they bring. IMO, mine was worth what I paid for it because it is what I wanted, although it isn't a CVO model.

It depends on...

1. How long you are going to keep it...all the chrome stands up to wear and tear a lot better than aluminum... If you care about the appearance after several years use or not.

3. If you bought a standard bike...what you would do with it...if you just leave as is or start changing out all sorts of parts for chrome ones etc...A lot cheaper to just buy the CVO

If your going to keep the bike for 10+ years go with the CVO

yes...110.

But you can do better (and cooler running) with other combos, IMHO.

In 2009, I believe HD changed the stroke from 111.13 MM to 111.25 MM making the 1800 CC engine...

However, they've been plagued with overheating, Crank shift and gasket leaks out the azz.......

You can do better, IMHO, with a 103" engine, cams, FMS and keep better reliability.

Yeah, if it's just a stroke, I agree, go aftermarket IMO.
