Looking at a 1998 Harley Davidson Road King 95th Anniversary Motorcycle.

42K miles, owner asking $9200. Besides opinion on price, any engine problems I may be in for?

Yeah, I was thinking more around $7k would be a little more reasonable. Don't know much about those motors so am worried its about time for a top end....

Thats a good looking scooter....do you know the owner, and do they have the service records,is it a one owner..you will want to know these things for a bike of that model and mileage....that stuff means a lot when buying a used bike...if you know the history..and use your gut feeling..do your research and compare a LOT of differnt bikes in your area...there are a lot of good deals out there..

Don't know the owner or anything about it yet except the basics I posted. You can bet I will be asking all those questions. Not in a hurry to buy now; alimony ends next year so I could afford more then :-). Just keep getting that urge....

The motor is bulletproof. I did a top end on my '95 at 80k and it didn't need it (I bored it .010" anyways). It was blowing some oil out the air cleaner and I found switching to a set of SE Heads fixed it up.

Stators, every 30k to 40k so maybe getting close there. Look at the drive belt for cracks. Check tire condition. Look at the records. Check the shifter lever attached to the transmission shaft (behind the primary). Tough to replace and usually a little loose.

Negotiate, negotiate, walk away, come back and negotiate some more, it's a buyer's market.
