2007 Harley Electra Glide Ultra

I'm looking at a 2007 Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic as a replacement for the Honda VTX 1300 I totaled but it's been 1985 since I owned an Electra Glide and I know things have changed a little. What are the things I should look out for on a used Harely these days? The one I had before was new so I was starting with a clean slate. Any "gottchas" to look out for? There is a lot of electronics on them now and I know my 85 liked to go through stattors a lot. Is that still a weak spot? I did have a lot of lights on that thing though.

Saw your post and couldn't believe what I was seeing. My first Harley was an 85 EG with a ton of lights and it too ate stators. As well as wheel bearings and drive belts. And in June I picked up an 07 EGU. Damn good bike. From what I've read the electronics are much improved now but time will tell. All I no for sure is I really like this 07 and there has been some discussion that would indicate it's probably one of the better years by some peoples opinions.

Got the 07 Ultra less than a year ago, my first Harley. Little high geared with the 6 speed tranny. Heard that's an 07 thing. I rode to Eastern Montana this summer and did a 750 mile day on the way out and again coming home. It's awesome to set the cruise, crank up the tunes and go. I got so sick of being passed by Harley's like I was standing still on my V-Star cause I felt like I was already rapped to the max. Nice to be the one passing by now, tried not to grin too much as I went by them..............

The older I get the better I was....

2007 Ultra Classic

Had mine since January. I rode from Greenwood South Carolina in July, back to my home in Fort Worth, Texas (1100 miles in a little over a day. Love mine and that is with the stock seat. I was a little tired after the ride and am now looking for a better seat. lol
