What's the best rear replacement tire for SG 2012
My rear tire on my Street Glide 2012 will be needed a new rear tire.
The front tire may give me double the rear tire life.
I have 9800 on the Harley now. I think rear tire may go another 3000.
Is it alright to mix brands of tire?
The OEM Harley Dunlop tires are on it now.
What about Avon or Metzeler tires?

If you think you will get 12000 plus out of your rear tire, I would stick with the stock Dunlops. I would find it hard to believe that you you would get anyway near that with avons or metzlers. I currently have 13000 on my stock rear Dunlop. But that's just my opinion. I'm sure you will get a lot more.

the metzler is an excellent tire, have not used them on my harley but had great luck and ride with them on my honda 1300. there is a post on here that praises the michelins for handling and wear. those may be what i go with. i will either use the michelins or the metzlers.

I just checked the tread, the tread is very close to the indicator bars. I just looked in the service manual and it says to remove tire from service if the tread is 1/32 to the indicator bar! Only on the center of the tire is worn. I may have to replace the tire sooner than I thought.
I may want to put a different brand on the rear, just to see if get better ride, low noise and long life, maybe 15k?
These are the original tires, some riders say there are other brands that will out perform the Harley Dunlop tire.

Ok, it's a toss between Metzeler 880 (180/65B-16) or the Michelin Commander II (180/65B-16).
Lots of reviews on Motorcycle SuperStore.

You made my mind up, It's Metzeler 880 on front and rear!
I've heard some riders using Auto tires on special rims on custom bikes.

I have 22,000 on my front and 17,000 on the rear. Both are stock Dunlop's. It's time to replace them. I may try the michelin commandor II's. I am not unhappy with the stockers, so I may just stick with them.
