Firetruck, I think the confusion starts in your opening post, in the fact that you never mentioned having the iPod interface installed. You just ask if it will work with your stock radio, with no other modifications.

My error' thanks' Now that i have it installed, things are not all well. sometimes when i start the bike, the ipod freezes(showing a song but not playing) if i go to the next song, it starts playing again. now my ipod is a four year old nano, the little 1'' square one. i've updated it from itunes, still freezes sometimes. this happens in auto also.
Question: is my ipod outdated, do i need the latest touch nano?

Like posted above, replace the pod with a chip memory. You can also get a magnetic pouch made for the pod so you have access to change songs while ridding.

I know it's not my money, but if I'd upgrade to a new iPod. The nano is known for being quirky on its own. Not sure how it will handle your application. I do wish you good luck getting something to work.

as dum as it sounds when i installed my hdpd plus i pulled switched power from another source, and the controller wasnt acting as it should. tore fairing back off and followed directions for drawing power and not a problem since. i figure switched power is switched power but evidently not. go figure

firetruck, I use the same IPod as you, without issues. With that being said tho, I did have a problem with the first Nano I purchased, and it would act up even worse than what you describe. I would try a friends IPod first, before you start throwing money at it.
