Bought the bike
Well, after taking down the Christmas tree and most of the decorations, I still had a few hours of daylight left. So, called the Harley dealer I was at a couple weeks ago to see if they were going to be open .. and they were until 7 pm. How nice.
So, I drove down to Yankee Harley and talked "numbers" for buying a new 2013 Street Glide with my 2003 Honda VTX 1300 trade in using cash as an incentive. I don't dicker much when I'm dealing, but have a number in my mind. If we are close, I close the deal. I'm not interested in screwing around another hour for $500.
I bought the bike.
Started out at the motor builder talking about getting the power numbers I wanted (in another post without any responses), discussed cam profiles, exhaust options, head work, yada, yada. We'll talk more again.
Then we did the numbers on the cost. I'm happy with my deal. I suppose I could have done a bit better, but I'm happy.
The bike is a 2013 ABS/security/cruise deal (don't care about cruise, but it's part of the package), wanted red, but got the midnight pearl ... which looks pretty nice IMO.
They gave me a tee shirt (who'da tho't, eh), a catalog of parts (which I like). Yankee HD was very nice, they try very hard to be client advocates, but like all dealerships, you always leave there hoping for a bit more. They're better at it than most others in the area. Anyway, I'm happy.
They are going to pick up my trade in, store and deliver my new bike when I want it delivered ... prolly in March. I'll pick up some various exhaust parts/mufflers and AC pieces ... talk with Matt in engine building and figure which cams to use and ride that sucker. 20% off parts/installation until March.
I have photos on my cell ... but, it's not my bike. Mine's in the warehouse, this bike was on the floor. I'll post when I can.
Looking forward to riding a Harley again. I think I'll be happy with my choice.
