Oil Specs

New to Harley here:What are the oil weights to use in the transmission and secondary.Am going to Amsoil after first 1000 miles.My background---20 years on touring Yamahas and 14 years on touring Beemers.

Amsoil 20/50 is fine in all three holes but it's not a bad idea to run a heavier gear oil in the tranny.

Harley says you can run synthetic from the getgo...but it really doesn't matter...I run 20W-50 in the motor of my Twin Cam and 75W-90 in the transmission and primary case...shifts smoother and less chain noise...I use Lucas synthetic with the synthetic stabilizer...

Amsoil MCV in oil pan 20W50
Amsoil SVG or FGR in trans 75W90
Amsoil MCF in primary 10W40
I am an amsoil dealer, what year model do you ride?

I'm looking at Redline 20-50 motorcycle oil, Redline V-Twin shockproof and Redline V-Twin Primary oil. I just serviced it at 1000 with standard harley oil and at 2000 I will change to synthetic. I know why am I waiting for 2000 and not at 1000 miles it's just piece of mind and I know it should be good and broke in by then.
