Anyone done Stage 2 or 3 Engine upgrade on '09 ?
I'm concerned about the lack of power of my new ultra classic. Dealer says that doing stage 2 (103ci) will not void warranty and will give me more power. How much more power and is it significant enough to justify the cost?
Thanks

The dealer should be able to provide you with specs detailing what kind of power you will get from the upgrade. Then you will be able to decide if its worth the cost. If not, I would find another dealer.

Wow, you really need more power, eh? Mine seems to have more than enough for me. Don't forget it's a touring bike and it's supposed to keep both tires on the ground at all times.

Stage 2 big bore on my Roadking gave me about 16% more HP and 21.6% more torque. It's significant and to me it was well worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Ever been behind a chicken truck in Arkansas??? Seriously need power to do two lane passing. Been spoiled by bikes with 2-6x the power/weight and some are touring. Ultra is a nice two up ride however.

No, but been behind plenty of RV's headed thru Wyoming and Montana before I bumped my 09 to 103".. had some scary passes.. it now has plenty of power to make those passes..
Just plan on spending $2500 to get 'er done..

Down shifting will give you the easiest hp increase of all. It's always there and doesn't make the bike any louder. Getting the engine to where the max hp in the rpm range is is what you acomplish by downshifting. It's cheap too.

I did the stage 2 SE and am amazed at the torque. My wife and I tour near or over the GVW so torque is what I wanted. 98.4 ft #s of it made a huge difference to me.
