2001 Road King

Going down to look at a Road King today, 2001 model, mint condition, only 18,000 miles. The guy wants 12,800 for it. Anyone have this year model? He has it listed as fuel injected, I thought HD didn't make the fuel injected RK until 02? Also wondering how this bike will differ in the ride from a newer one. I would like to take it down to a ralley in Germany this month, about 700 miles one way. Most riding will be on hills and windey roads. Looking from input before I commit to buy.

Here in the USA $12,800 USD would be a bit hight for an '01 Road King. $7,500.00 to $8,000.00 would be a more fair price for a 2001. Where you are, the prices and availability of the same bike may be a completely different story.

I just traded in my 2001 Road King Classic for a 2009 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. The 2001 Road King Classic was fuel injected without cruise control and the system was provided by Magnetti-Morelli (sp). Many complaints about the MM system but I never experienced a major problem. The idle speed was an issue but was easily resolved by reading threads on this and other forums. The 2001 is a great ride but falls far short of the 2009 Touring models. If you can spring for a 2009, do so. As for value/price, I was allowed $11,500 trade for my 2001 on the 2009. My bike had 43,000 miles on the clock and was in exceptional condition. I got a good deal!

What Juke said makes sense. Its probably a decent price in Belgium.
