I looked at a v-rod once

Let me say I think they are cool and fast they are the future! I really like them. But here is what happened to me. My brother in law and I stopped at the Pueblo,Co. HD dealer he needed a part for his FXR I was looking at the bikes, well long story short. We both were looking over the v-rod I was on the kick stand side Charlie was on the other side I said I wonder how you raise the seat as the gas tank filler is under the seat neither one of us could figure out where the latch was. A female saleswoman over heard us so she came over and started to tell us all about the bike I'm still standing by the seat she reaches down and flips up the seat nailing me dead center in the jewels. I tried to walk it off. She apologizes, after the pain quit and all the laughing stopped. She asked if I wanted to ride one in a high squeaky voice I declined said something about if they are that mean I'll stick to my Electra Glide. Some day I'd like to try out a v-rod I'll be sure to stand clear of that seat!

Thats a funny story Norman.

If its any consolation I never hit my self in the nads getting gas. Just about anyone who owns one loves the heck out of it so maybe you should check one out one of these days.

My son just bought a V-rod. I ride a Heritage. While the V-rod is not my cup of tea, it is an excellent bike. He has Vance & Hines pipes, a stage one and a tuner on it and it basically scoots. It also sounds nice. Not quite like a Harley. More like a very large very ticked off humongous bumble bee. It just sounds angry. The stock V-rods sound like someone just let the air out of a balloon.

We ride a lot together and he gets a lot of stares. I don't think many in our area have seen a V-rod so it turns heads. They also haven't heard a bike sound like his does so that turns heads again.

No matter. I am happy with my Heritage and he cannot stop smiling since he got his V-rod. We have some some great father/son riding ahead of us.

Father/son riding. It doesnt get any better than that in my book.

Good description of the sound. I have Supertrapps on mine and it sounds like a cross between a NASCAR and a Helicopter.

That's a 110 Horsepower ".. let the air out of a balloon.." sound,

when your TC makes about 75 Horsepower

Sound is good, very good, but not necessarily better than power.

No Flames, I ride a 95" low restriction intake & exhaust LowRider,

better stats than the 96" TCs, so I get to speak knowledgeably about V-Rod vs TC.

You can throw stats at me all day long. All I care about is I love my Heritage and my son loves his V-rod and we have the time of our lives riding together.

I went to the nitro drags at Sturgis this year. There were quite a few v-rod drag bikes there as far as I know these were either running gas or alcohol. Now there is a sweet sound wound out v-rods. They are a different cat but I like them even though one attacked me first time I was near one I'd ride one and own one if I had the cash.
I'd like to see the engine type( only bigger and badder in cubic inch size) in a touring frame set up, Soon I think HD will go to liquid cooling on all models nothing stays the same . Look at it his way still a v-twin and mostly American made at least its roots are American.
I don't care to much for the HD boutiques er stores but I like the bikes. Old or new. I've owned only 3 Harleys my first was a 1952 Pan Head, second was 1986 XLCH, My latest is a 1995 ultra classic my first Harley with electric start and I haven't taken this one completely apart yet.
I plan on this being the last one. I'll hopefully ride it until it turns into rust and dust or until I can't ride any more.
