Hey ed,
Oh you made the right choice alright. All the power thats on tap is easily controlled and with a low seat height there is nothing keeping a new rider from handling this beauty just fine.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Its a great machine and a great platform for whatever you want to do with it including high speed touring.

Wondering what the comfort is like for a tall person. I'm 6'2'' with a 35" inseam.

Those are my same stats and I did change the handle bars as not to hunch over as much but the forward controls are fine for long distance comfort. You can also extend the forward controls up to three inches if desired.

There are others here who are even taller and ride a Night Rod Special. Maybe they will chime in also.

Jason... 6'4" here with a 36" inseam and really, really, like the ergos. I come from a sportbike background and when at speed, want to lean forward which is exactly what the DX encourages. I know some who prefer a more upright position and a simple swap of the bars can enable this. Except for the exhaust, have kept the thing bone stock and love it as is.

sfarson, what kind of exhaust do you have on that bike ? Looks like supertrapp. Do you have a video clip of it ? I'd love to hear it !

JL... Indeed they are the Supertrapps and they're outstanding. Have ten discs in the caps and the exhaust is finely tuned to the bike and the altitude (8800ft.) here.

Anyway, did record a DX ride up high over a nearby mountain pass, but with the wind roar and mic, a tune mostly accompanies, but from at around 2:22 - 2:42 of the recording I do let the exhaust note come through. Can also hear it at idle at the beginning...

Anyways the night rod is by far my next bike. I will keep my nightster and hook myself with a special as well. I bought the nightster since I have not ride for 6 years and I thought the special would be a little to much bike but now I know know I need the power.

Isn't the juice worth the squeeze?!?!?!
