What is wrong with some people?
Went for a ride today on the FXR, and stopped at a nice little pub out in the country for lunch. There were about 6 other bikes there, 3 of which were late model Harleys, which was quite a lot, considering it is the middle of winter here, and it was a work day Monday! Anyway, one guy comes over to check out my bike, and says "what is it?" I looked at his vest, which was completely covered in patches, (it had a shovelhead patch, an evo patch, a panhead patch, a WLA patch, etc. as well as patches from runs and rides going back years) and being a little facetious, I replied "well, according to your vest, you're some kind of Harley officianado, that's been around hogs for years, and knows them inside out, so you tell me what it is!" This caught him by surprise, and he got a little angry, and started cussing me, telling me that he only knows his Harleys, not Jap bikes. Well, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life! One of his buddies wondered what the commotion was, and wandered over. The first guy said to him "this guy is riding some sort of jap cruiser, but wearing a harley jacket, and helmet, and he was rude when I asked him what it was!" I started laughing even more! The first guy walked away in disgust, and the second guy said to me "don't worry about old Pete, he's just a cranky old coot, and he's only been riding for about 18 months or so, but we let him think he's an expert, to keep the peace. By the way, nice FXR!"
I said to him, "thanks, it's nice to know someone knows what it is, but why is your mate riding around with patches for runs he could never have gone on if he's only been riding for 18months, and patches for harley engines he can't even recognise?" and he told me "he bought that vest from a guy that gave up riding due to health issues, and just left them all on there" to which I replied "well one day he's gonna run into a real badass biker that'll tear him to pieces" and just walked inside the pub.
Yep, unfortunately they are out there, and walk among us!
