Attaboy for Local Cop

I had this lady approach me this morning at the local Stealership to "model" a helmet because my head was about the same size as her husband's (????). Being accommodating as well as a bit curious, I helped her find the helmet she decided she wanted to purchase. While this was going on, I got the story from her that she and hubby were heading down Hwy 90 for Florida and bike Week riding 2-up. As they approached the Ocean Springs Bridge, they were pulled over by one of the local PD for NO HELMET....we are a must wear state. Instead of writing a ticket, said officer gave the lady a ride over to the local shop to buy the helmets and then rode her back so that they could safely resume their trip, and he could then take off to escort a funeral previously scheduled.
Good thing for that couple because the further east they went, the greater the chance that one of the less sympathetic officers that are hunting for bikers heading for BW would have nailed them and cost a lot more money in fines (plus buying the helmets). Good job and everyone parted smiling.

I bet their attitude when the officer walked up to them at the stop had a lot to do with no ticket and a ride to the shop and back. Good on the cop and the riders.

Per the previous post I'm sure the riders' attitude and demeanor played a part in the very good treatment they received. However, riding into another state(s) without finding out in advance about helmet laws ain't very smart.

My thoughts too. Very nice thread, Darryl, in today's anti-cop climate, much to do from the a-hole in the Oval Office, its great to see kudos given to the men in blue.

I can't believe anyone who owns a motorcycle and rides to Daytona for bike week wouldn't have a helmet with them. They are lucky to run into a nice cop.
