Anybody ever tried an electric fan of some kind on their bike in Texas?.. I get caught in traffic some and was thinking on putting a small fan on my bike for the heads to blow off some heat?..
There are fans designed for just that purpose.
The brand Love Jugs comes to mind.
There are others. Several Members have used various ones with good success.
Along with switching to full synthetic oil if not already running it.
Harley-Davidson makes the "CoolFlow Fan" which is supposed to draw hot air away from the engine and direct it downward. Haven't tried it myself but it looks interesting.
I used Wards fans ( Jason Ward) his fans were great. The story I heard was that Love Jugs held the patent on a 2 fan design for a V-Twin. And after a legal battle Love jugs won and shut down Jason. Yes Jason designed the compact high velocity fan you now see being sold at Love Jugs called the mighty might. But Loves Jugs holds the patent.
The Love Jugs mighty might is great too, a bit pricier then the Wards fans. But I believe the mighty might is serviceable and can replace individual parts as they may fail over time.
For whats it worth, I have the Harley Davidson CoolFan and I am interested in the Love Jugs fan. My M8 runs at about 240* on the highway at 70 mph with the fan on.
Not Really seen the need yet for my old Carbed Dyna but have heard nothing but good about the Love Jugs other than a few complaints about the Looks of them added to your Engine .. If Heat is your Priority Issue by all means at least check them out ..
JIMS Cooling fan. I love it. My 110 Break Out would leave me sitting in I95 traffic. With fan on, the EITMS doesn't even kick in on a 90 degree day! I also have the HD oil cooler but that doesn't even matter when stopped and idling.
