01 road king efi performance build questions?

2764 Views 11 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Sidswingerhead
well i have an 01 efi right now. the bike has a 95" big bore now. I'm looking to do something extensively bigger. looking like a 124". something stupid. or maybe even turbo bagger who knows.

so my question to everyone is, what the hell should i be looking into? i want stupid power and for the bike to perform. its not some slammed out big wheel bagger. I'm looking to beat the hell out of my bike like i always do. (i may get some heat for that statement) but in all reality i roast the tire everywhere and slide my bike on almost every corner. i want this bike to be set up to have the power and response to handle my riding style.

Thank you in advance.

How much HP you want?

S&S T124 engine = 140 HP.
around that 140hp mark would be great. my issues is dealing with the M&M EFI set up. i know they're junk and can't do shit with them. so do i stay efi or go carb?

VFI Module Kit
well solves that issue. now do i do the 107 or 124 build?
Just depends on what you want the bike/motor for. .. are you worried at all about reliability?
My extensively built 107" with a 48mm mikuny dyno'd at around 130 hp/trq. When new, so you may be happier with the 126".

S&S has their new T-143 that fit in the OEM chassis.
In TAME form, that engine, as delivered @ only 10.4 cr shows 162 hp and 151 ft/lbs.
You'll need an induction system for your bike as a 70mm tbw is the only one currently available, for '08-up touring.

What other sort of upgrades would be recommended when going from a stock setup to something like that?

Baker transmission, Bandit clutch, and chain drive?
Good clutch, and a chain drive set-up, along with a sturdy amount of intestinal fortitude.........:)

I'll also add that with the install of an S&S .640 cam in that, and bringing the compression up to a pump-gas friendly 11.5 cr for that cam, a LARGE increase in power can yet be had.

Sidswingerhead also looking at S&S T124

I am also looking at upgrading my 99 RoadKing Classic FLHRCI to a S&S T124.

Currently the bike is a Stock 88 EFI engine, except for Power commander III, high flow K&N air cleaner and Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 pipes.

HP & Torque on the stock bike sucks (Partially because of the pipes) and requires at least upgrade to 120 -130 to get me 1/2 way to excited.

I also crave extra HP, and so far I have seen nothing to say any different, that the T124 with either 585 or 640 cam will do me nicely.

For the RoadKing I suspect the 545 Easy start cams will be the better selection but would like to hear from anyone who has similar bike upgrade and how the performance may differ.

Anyone out there with any horror stories about destroying their drive train, or engine problems associated with a similar upgrade?

I also do a lot of long 300-1000 Km runs, so would like some feedback on engine performance on runs like this?

For any Aussie reading - Who is the best S&S dealer/specialist in Aus? So far I have C&N Cycles in Dandenong (Closest dealer)
