On second thought don't go trying pins on anybody's bikes, the wrong pin could lock that bike's security system.
This OP's bike is security locked as we discuss and I doubt 31313 will unlock his bike, he can try it if he wishes.
Ya, I'm pretty sure that if you don't use the correct pin, you're not going to get anywhere with the bike or be able to change anything.

I've never heard of mechanics putting in their preferred pin number. From what I understand there is a factory default pin for the system. The default pin is what I used to start my bike. I then found another video that shows you how to change the factory pin to a custom pin of the owners choice. I keep my new pin in case I sell the bike one day and can give it to the new owner. Also, if the factory pin has been changed or a person loses their pin number, you're screwed. I think it has to be reset at a harley shop. Or maybe not.

It was never "the mechanics putting in their preferred pin numbers", please pay attention to the dialog. It was the MoCo specific setup procedures. If the new owner asked the service dept. to install a preferred security pin in their brand new Harley then that happened at the shop pre-delivery and was included in the delivery paperwork. I doubt 31313 will disable any Harley security system right now unless an owner programmed it into the ECM / TSSM / Security system.

I just know what I was able to do with my bike! Not saying it works for every bike. But those that may be concerned that they still have a factory pin, can try the process on their own bikes.
Yes and maybe lock their security systems at the same time ! That's why I'm saying to be careful playing with those security pins ! IMO don't **** with the security system on your bike without asking first !
Maybe now's a good time to get a dialog going on Harley security systems, 1995 - current ? Both different animals !

Before I posted on here I tried to find the procedure on entering a pin on my bike. I found a couple videos but they were newer bikes so it did not work for mine. I kinda just assumed my bike was too old for the “pin” feature. If anyone knows the procedure for interning a pin on my 02 softail feel free to share. In the mean time I’ll just wait on my new key fob to be delivered!

My default PIN was 11111, I am not sure who set it, I am assume it was the dealership. I have a 2014 SGS. The dealership had that PIN # written down in the paperwork I recieved that is why I assumed it was them, maybe they just checked it when getting the bike ready for delivery. I agree with not messing with the security system until you have a programmed FOB handy. My wife's 19 heritage was also set to 11111, they were both purchased new from the same dealership.

I had to use the odometer reset button on my 02 Softail to get the pin. There are a couple videos on YouTube that run through the sequence. It is different from the newer bikes but I don't know what year they made the change on how to access/change/input the pin to disable the security.

The pin procedure is a sticky in the electrical section.

Yep, if you have the original "Owners Manual" to your bike, there is a section that gives info for the security alarm. It contains how to check existing pin number, how to disarm using pin and how to change the pin number. Mine also has a sticker with the fob serial # on the inside cover. There should also be a wallet card with this info, but if bought used, this is probably missing like mine. Lol

I see, thank you for all of the info!

Be careful ! Read all the instructions. It ain't that easy ! Ya just can't go out and buy a part to defeat the Harley security system. That FOB needs to be programmed to your security system that appears to be active right now. Your bike is trying to not be stolen right now. I know these systems and I'm betting on your bike !
I attached the procedure onto this comment. It is acting like it’s not recognizing the fob. When I go through it I get 2 flashes when pressing the left turn signal twice, then I get one flash when pressing the right turn signal, then I get two flashes when I press the left turn signal again. Then when I hold the button on the fab it doesn’t give me any flashes.

the fob does have a battery and it tested at 3.27v. The battery was in correctly. Any ideas?

On the final step you might need to hold the FOB button almost 30 seconds.
Also follow the battery disconnects instructions at the top of the instruction sheet and try again.

The next thing I would do is verify battery volts are at least 12.8v static and I would install a new FOB battery. The FOB is brand new correct ?
