...at least that's what it sounds like, something rattling around somewhere up front.
Checked everything and nothing loose, anybody have this problem before?
What could it be?

I KNOW that's NOT "just the way they sound"

Rattling noises drive me crazy...

Have you removed the nacelle, checked all the details, lots of sheet metal there...

Maybe an electrical connector bumping the sheet metal.

Heat shields good, exhaust system mounted good, no rubbing on anything.

Motor mounts torqued.

Front fender mounted securely, front brake caliper...

Have you removed the fuel tank and checked underneath, check the tank mount details also.

My front fender on my old (`89) Softail makes a loud groaning noise when applying front brake while backing up, crazy loud....

More information would be helpful ...

When exactly does it happen?

All the time, while riding?

When applying the front brake and compressing the forks?
