in spite of my best efforts, i've managed to get gas spills underneath the leather console. now that its cold & won't be riding for awhile, i'd like to pull it off & do some clean-up but can't figure out how it comes off. anybody done it or can you explain how it's done? no owners manual to refer to.

Doesn't it lift off when you remove the speedometer console?

One nut to remove the console, might have to remove the seat too.
Let the console dangle from the wire harness, maybe wrap it in a towel to avoid scratches.

Remove the nut on the console. Lift it.

Remove the seat. There is a Phillips head screw holding the lower end on.

I assume you know how to remove the seat with the fender screw?

thanks guys. i've had the seat off, so i've got that much experience. haven't looked the speedo console over yet. i'd like a clear picture before i start.

the console will love me when it's done (i hope).
