Hi all,
New here. :)
Just got an '87 XLH 1100 and getting no start when it is hot.
Starter appears to be original, and hitting the start switch a few times seems to get it to go.
My question is.. having worked on MANY vehicles over the years, starters always seem to vary a lot in reliability.
Can someone tell me a brand that is known for good quality?
Also considering a Barnett clutch and a Zipper's trap door.
Maybe a better carb as well.
Don't want to spend TOO much on this bike, but would like to make it as reliable as possible so I can RIDE it.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome from ND...I could be wrong but sounds more like the starter is not getting the correct power from the battery I would check the electrical connections to the starter. As for your other questions I'm sure someone from the site will be able to assist you.
