I put 12" apes w/ 5" risers on my XL1200C. The electrical screwed me up so it took me 14 hours to do.
Now I got a 2009 FXSTC and just bought 16" Roland Sands King Apes w/ 2" risers. Is it possible to do without taking the gas tank off to hook up the throttle lines? It looks like all the electrical connects are by the headlight. No need to remove the tank for them, I hope.

I didn't remove the tank to run the throttle cables on my EGC.

I tied a piece of heavy twine to the ball end of each of the old ones before I pulled them out. I unhooked both ends and gently pulled them out leaving the twine in it's path. I then tied the twines to the new cables and pulled each new one back individually through the exact path of the stock cables. I pulled them from the throttle body side to the handlebar side.

I was much easier than I expected. I had them removed, re-ran, hooked up and adjusted in about 45 minutes or so.

Of course, it may be a different process altogether on a Softail.

Yeah, I'll give it a shot, thanks.
