From what I`m finding through searches. Over 3200 were sold.
How many were actually built? :dunno

If you find one or have one... don't let it go. I had the chance a few years ago and let it slip by me. Now I regret it.

What I was able to find out about it makes it seem a bit of a rare breed indeed.
But found conflicting info as to whether the 83 was or was not primary, and or primary & secondary belt drive.
But it`s a Shovel. So it`s all good by me.

The FXB (B for belt) came out in 1980. My book has the same numbers as Breeze. The 0 for 1983 is because 1982 was its last year in production.

Do we know how many 1983 FXB Sturgis models were produced?
There were "0" FXB Harley Davidsons produced in 1983. 1982 was the last wear for the FXB model.
1983 was the first year for the FXSB model that replaced the FXB.

Thanks, but you are about 3 years too late. Answer was already given in 2014.

Yes, the FXB was dropped. From what I can decipher/determine, FXSB Low Rider was the model that replaced FXB. Chain primary, belt final.

(From Harley Davidson Data book, by Rick Conner)
There were some Sturgis models produced under the FXSB Lowrider tag in 1983 and I believe to mid year 1984 that were shovelheads.
I have a 1983 Sturgis Lowrider. It was completely restored and rebuilt back to as close as possible to original condition in 2011.
It has less than 2000 miles on it since the restoration. Looks, runs, and rides real good and it stops pretty good too.

Still trying to ascertain the value of it light now. From what I have found out so far it's around 15K.

The FXSB Sturgis models WERE belt driven, primary and rear. I'm running the original HD setup on mine.

I know this is an old post, but I'd like to add to it. A1983 fxsb is a dual belt low rider, primary belt and final drive belt. I am the original owner of a 1983 fxsb in candy red metallic one of I believe 296. I am also thinking of selling.

The Sturgis model was only 1980, 1981, 1982. In 1983 the Low rider FXSB was dual belt drive, shovel head 4 speed with kick start ONE YEAR ONLY. which "took the place" of the Sturgis.
