Introduction before questions is good. Your manual will tell you. Do you know where to put oil in? This is why intros are good. Got a oil cooler? More info. Call someone,Fort Meyer's HD or Naples. I could tell you but you do the homework.

I think 20W-50 would be too thin for an ironhead. In South FL, probably straight 50 weight would work better.

SAE 50 and 20w50 will be the same viscosity at operating temperature...

If at all worried about 20w50, and I wouldn't be, use a quality synthetic. Synthetics are better at high temperatures than conventional oils.

I encourage everyone to spend a few hours researching oil.
That way you will know and opinion s do not count.
Start with Bob the oil guy.
All I know after reading for about 6 hours, syn oil has a lot more advantages to it.
Now if you wish to disagree you can, but it will have to be because you like a certain colored label, as the facts support syn oil.
You want high zink and boron at least 1200 count P.M for the zink
