My bike has 5000 miles on it, i got it in 02/09 12 degrees, 40 miles, the notes warmed me. It makes a banging-clanging noise under heavy load, sounds like bottom L/S of the engine, doesn't make any noise in nuetrual, any ideas, thanks.

Check the primary chain adjustment. If it's loose, it'll make noise, and it's on the left side.

Then, afterwards, go to the "New to the Community" section and properly introduce yourself.....

If I remember correctly, you'll need to undo your clutch adjustment and drop the primary cover to get to the Sportster's primary chain adjuster. It's not a trap door like the Big Twins have.

While you're there, you'll want to adjust your clutch basket, clutch cable and replace the fluid anyway.

You'll need a manual for all the specs, chain tightness and settings.

You'll need a Gasket, Primary fluid and a few tools too.
