After riding bike for 20 to 30 miles the speedometer needle begins to bounce around erratically for a mile or so and then goes to zero. This happens all the time… it used to go 60 or 70 miles from cold start to having this problem but is now consistent at about 20 to 30 miles. Odometer, cruise, self-cancelling turn signals, and radio variable speed control all quit operating when speedometer cuts out. Any ideas?

Its not allways necessary to replace the sensor.Sometimes just cleaning off the little metallic flakes from the tip of the sensor is enough to restore contact, and restore it to new.The sensor is magnetized just like the primary drain plug.Try changing to a better quality oil to reduce wear in the gearbox.Sometimes the wrong oil can cause premature wear of the synchro's causing excess sediment.
