Hi, I've got a 2003 ElectraGlide, started making noise in the cam chest. Pulled it apart and one lifter had stopped rolling and wrecked the cam. after a closer look a couple of pushrods had warn out where they sit on the lifter, the spherical end had warn out to a cone shape, anybody else ever had this happen?
I change oil regularly and only have about 30k on it.
Thanks in advance

Sometimes the hardened coating on the lifter roller lets loose. The results are what you witnessed.

Not sure about the pushrods.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I just fixed a bike with this exact lifter issue about three weeks ago. It was an evo, but one lifter bearing went out, causing your exact problem. Not sure about the pushrod problem you have.... But while you have her down, check the cam chain tensioners and oil pump. If you find that any amount of metal has went through the pump, might be a good time to upgrade the pump and maybe even the cam plate to the newer hydraulic type plate. Best of luck on the repair.

I need back up from Schmidty or Scott on this, but I think on that range of twin cam models, the factory recommended “check” (read replace) lifters at 25K. Which really sucks, because it ain’t exactly like checking your air filter. I think that statement in the manual was put there as a “get out of jail free” card for the MoCo.
