Just have your cylinders bored to 1200.
So, what's the fix ??? Start over ?? :dunnoJust had a 1250 kit in here to be re-built.
Contacted the outfit and they supplied us with plus .010" pistons.
Bored to within .004" for honing.
Noticed small "dark spots" in the fresh machined cast iron.
Honed them to size, and those spots opened up to a tremendous amount of voids in the bore, so what I saw was .005" on a side between life and death of that engine...........not my idea of a good time.:what?

Just go to 1200. You get stock reliability, and about the same power as 1250. We're only talking 50 cc!!So, what's the fix ??? Start over ?? :dunno

Yes, you definitely should do this.. I had this done to a sporty I had and I tell you what, it's awesome!!! I had it done to a 99' and the only bad thing was trying to keep the rear tires on it!!if i ever get another sportster and grow a pair that have hair - i would go for that big s&s sidewinder 79 kit -its gotta make one nasty sporty when done right-
