Hello Folks
Its been awhile, but been wanting to drop in for sometime. I got a question I knew you folks are the guys that would know. My friend is getting back to riding after years away from it and yesterday bought a 2008 ex Boston Police bike 17k miles, well maintained and only slightly scuffed). He hasn't got a license yet so I drove it home for him. What an impressive beast compared to my '02 RKC! I covered up the "POLICE" on the bags for the ride but when I got on the highway with it no one would pass me. It was comical seeing the traffic back up in the side mirror.
Anyway its was Civilianized but not completely, probably just enough to sell it legally, they even cut the wires removing the bulbs in the front pursuit lights and one thing he will want to do is replace them with the auxiliary lighting. I suspect the switch and wiring is disabled or wrong, but that's just the beginning. What I'm hoping is for suggestions to online resources for him (website, youtubes, etc..) and what service manuals to get.
This is the bike, and him on it when we got it home)

Sharp looking motorcycle. Congrats to him. The police models and the civilian models are essentially the same aside from a few obvious items. Anything that he wants to change or add to his bike, if he can find it for the civilian model, it will fit on the police model.

We tested the wires where the cut out the blue pursuit lights and there's power to them. The red switch on the right grip works them but steady on for pursuit or aux, and then off. My bike kills the aux lights when I go to high beams but the Hi/Lo on this one has no effect. We have to find out the type of connector that goes on them, 2 or three prong, and does it have a Halogen bulb connector or three prong strait to a sealed beam. There are 3 wires (4 if you count the two yellow in the left side). One of the yellows goes to the right lamp. There is the ground to the casing and then the power in the gray wire coming up from the bottom.
