went to start bike and fuel indicator on tank read empty, digital readout read low range and fuel light started blinking...even tho tank was full. replaced fuses, tried to reset, checked connector under tank, battery good, disconnected power commander and went direct etc...still no joy.

Float stuck....float has hole and sunk.. sending unit bad...

You can look in the tank and see the float. You should be able to fashion a hook out of a coat hanger that you can use to pull it up. If it's stuck or sunk, the gauge will respond when you pull it up manually. If it still doesn't, the sending unit is probably shot or there is an issue in the wiring.

If you are getting the low fuel indicators on the light and the gauge, it is almost certainly at the unit.
