I have a 2021 Sportster S I bought used with 150 miles. I didn’t ride it for about 10 days and the key fob stopped connecting to the bike. I didn’t set a pin, the first owner didn’t, and every Harley generic pin isn’t starting the bike. They said the fob is not under warranty and all they can do is change my whole security system.
what can I do to solve this another way?

If the bike doesn't have a siren then you are spared it going off although you could disconnect it.

I have no clue what you think a generic pin number is or where you got the idea. The shop that sold it could have set it to anything and as my dealer did write it down for me.

Anyhow you have 100,000 combinations to go through, good luck.

First off there are no generic pin numbers for Harleys. I'm assuming the dealer would have told the OP that plus suggest trying a new battery. Also the dealer should have suggested re-marrying the FOB to the system, that procedure is a sticky in this forum electrical section. Maybe the OP could do the FOB re-marry himself.

There are no universal security PINs. Let me clarify a bit. During new bike setup and prior to delivery the security system needs to be initialized and needs a PIN installed for the system to get tested. Dealers choose their own numbers, maybe their address, last digits of their shop phone numbers and usually everyone at the dealership is on that same page. New customers are advised to change the PIN and the sales staff are supposed to instruct the procedure.
Again, no universal security PINS. ECMs ship blank from the factory and get programmed at the dealers during vehicle setup.

If there was never a code in the first place then put a new battery in the fob and look in the manual. It explains everything you need to know on how to put a code in the fob or recover one. If you don't have the manual, you might find what you need on U-tube or search for the manual if all else fails Call Harley and they will assist you. If you call make sure you are respectful as they are in the driver's seat....:)
