My 77 Ironhead only sending spark to the front jug, oddly while I was confirming proper timing I discovered that the points cam was 180 out yet the bike ran, though it ran like crap. For with the cam 180 out the back jug was getting spark and only the back jug.
So my question is why would the coil send spark to only one cylinder to which cylinder sparks is dependent on the position of the points cam?

Test the coil resistance. The coil should measure between both plug wire towers and from both terminals on the ends of the coil but not between them. No reading between the end terminals and the plug wire terminals at all or the coil is shorted internally.
In other words there should be no continuity between the primary and secondary sides of the coil.
