I just bought one last week and yesterday I rode 270 miles and it worked great. Hot and very humid weather, no sweating or discomfort at all on the tailbone or hind end.
In a couple weeks I'll be putting close to 600 miles one day on it and will really know how good it is but for now I'm happy with the purchase.

Happy, I just got one too. How are you setting the pressure? I am still experimenting with the pressure in mine, but like it so far.

Jim, I didn't put much in it at all . I was told less is best. How about you? How much did you put in yours?

Right now I'm running very little pressure. I put another puff in it for a ways, but bled it back. Still trying to see the difference in comfort with different pressures. I will try even more the next time out.

I have tried the air hawk and it does help, but I personally prefer the the pro pad sheep skin gel pad. Whatever it takes to give the tush a little more cush works for me.:mooning:

Had the Airhawk, put it over a stock seat. 600 miles, 12 hour day, no problem. I always inflated it to max. Only reason I quit using it, I got tired of covering it every time I went on an overnight bike trip. Good product. Also, on long trips I do not ride with anything in my back pockets.

yea I'm going to play around with different pressures too Jim and see what the differences are.

Gold, were you covering it so it wouldn't get stolen ?

I gave it a good test last week, 2 days just shy of 600 miles each and the Air Hawk worked just as advertised.

I use it. I over inflate for a few hours and deflate it on the go a little at a time to get a "different" feel. 4300 miles in 13 days, I was still a little sore. I do not use the straps, just sit on it and go. Toss it in the tour pak when I go inside for food or lodging.

I might try the empty back pockets idea. I still get some tush-tenderness after about 200 miles when back to back days are involved. I don't use it at all if going less than 200 in a day.

I only used the front strap so it is easily taken off

and I did the empty pocket deal and I believe that helped also.

I don't use strap to hold it on at all. When I stop and leave the bike I toss it in the bag.

I have one too.... little air...just enough to create a bit of a "floating" feeling... I use the front strap just to hold it in place mounting and dis-mounting. No complaints.
we took our annual trip last fall and we cut that short as I tweaked my back getting on the bike at the start of the trip. It only got worse. Ended up going to the University specialists. tailbone was tweaked out of align, first thing he said was pitch the wallet. I have biker wallet I always carried. Still miss that thing, but I haven't had anything but a snot rag in back pocket since last fall. Looking for a replacement for the wallet (I carry front pocket for cash, license, cc, etc.) but still need/want something for those extra things I can't carry in front.
BUT... trips and Air Hawk go with me.
