So tonight for like the third time in the past two weeks I pull in somewhere and someone comes up and their like nice bike man and I'm like thanks and they ask a couple questions and then they just sit down and grab on the bars without asking. I'm about the crack the next one on the side of the head with my brain bucket. Pisses me off ?

I had that problem once while in a bar, when I was asked to come outside as someone was on my bike. When I got outside, there were five friends standing around the bike and wouldn't let him move until I got there. Don't think he tried that again. I will not sit on even a friend's bike if offered. The friendship is worth more to me. Sometimes things happen.

Never had one swing his legs over the tank but had one or two sit their butts on the seat from the side. I'm not a little guy, and when I get pissed, it's not hard to tell as evidenced by how fast those gentlemen found other places to park their butts. What's nice about these situations is that usually there are other bikers nearby, and they seem to always be sympathetic to the owner of the offended bike. Strange how group actions convince people of their wrongdoings.

I got more invested in my bike than the infamous Altima. You sits on da bike, you gets da owner in youse face.
Problem often is some idiots want to pick the bike up and pretend they're Rock Studly, the greatest bike rider ever. Then they drop the bike....or they manage to leave a huge scratch in the paint. Regardless, they're trespassing on private property.

hasn't happened to me, but if I saw someone start to pull such a move, I would head them off with: STEP THE @#$% AWAY FROM THE BIKE. Woodrow Call said it best in lonsome dove-cant stand rude behavior in a man-wont tolerate it!
regards,

Sorry, I have to bring back some old AMA and Dear Abby. If any of you remember the Dear Abby from Jan 1993 where she described a motorcycle as an "attractive nuisance," and the response by Eric Lundquist, Legislative Affairs Specialist, AMA.

Chicago Trib, Jan. 1993:

Is A Motorcycle An Attractive Nuisance? - Chicago Tribune

And, then Greg Harrison's response in American Motorcyclist in April, 1993:

American Motorcyclist - Google Books

I don't see much else since then, but keep in mind that many of those who would just sit on your bike without permission were likely raised by parents who thought Dear Abby made sense.

Hope this brings back memories for some of the older folks here.

When I was a kid, the folks about 1/2 mile away had a inground pool with a 8 ft chainlink fence topped with wire around it . One summer when they were out of town on vacation, two of the neighborhood kids drowned in their pool. It came out in court ( law suite that followed) that the mothers of the kids would toss a blanket over the wire, so the kids could climb over without getting cut up. The home owner still lost the suit, the court judged that the pool was an "attractive nuisance", and as such it was the fault of the home owners that the kids drowned.

I like this one.

Hell, I don't even like brushing someone else's pipes as I walk by, no f'n way would I ever dream of sitting on their bike unless I know them, they gave specific permission and I was ready to fully compensate them for any and all damage I did. I really don't want to be paying for a bike I can't ride.

I had it happen twice. One was a woman and the wife took care of her. The other got a helmet upside his head . You ask first, I'll probably let you. Don't ask, get hurt.

Yes. Its mine.

I don't touch your wife's boobs, so don't sit on my bike. If you're willing to barter, I'm willing to talk.

But not until we negotiate.

I have never had anyone just sit down without asking. If they ask, I generally don't mind having them sit on it. I love to sit on the bikes my friends have too, but only if it is cleared with them first! I don't usually ask, but if they offer, I usually will because I think it makes them feel good.

Never have happened to me ..yet. I remember the forum talking about this before, if I remember someone found some guy taking pics of his kids on his bike?

Closet thing to that was some guy waving a cigar around my bike, He was bigger tall ugly f'er, I would've folded him up like a lawn chair if he didn't back away from my bike when I brought it up.

Or he would've kicked my arse, either way!! I think its tacky and classless to take it upon themselves to mess with someone bike or property

The OL and I went into a road side attraction. When we left she was a little ahead of me and I heard her yelling. When I got out all was cool but she told me some asian couple sat their little kid on the bike to take a picture. The guy came over and sort of apologized and asked if he could put his kid on and take a picture. His accent was really strong like he maybe was a tourist. I asked him what was it the lady told you. I don't know what she said to him before I got there but it must have been right. He just walked away.

It's never happened to me - only people I let sit on my bike are folks I know. Mainly because the thing is pushing 800lbs and I don't want some newbie dropping it.

I think the only types of folks who would do that are non riders, new rides or a$$holes.

Funny story - at a church bike and car show a group of friends and I participated in a buddy saw some guy sitting on his custom Heritage that he built himself. Some engineer type that wanted his wife to take a picture of him. This dude is ex 1% - took three of us to hold him back with a fourth to drag the fool off the bike and clear of danger. We still get a laugh out of that.

That's when you walk up to him and say "let's go to your bank and you can withdraw $60,000 and give it to me", when he asks why: "because that's how much this bike cost me, and in some parts of this country, that's a freak'n house and you wouldn't just walk into another man's house without permission would you?".....then kick his azz!

If you ask, I'm fine with you sitting on my bike. If you just hop on like you own it, I get pissed. It's a respect thing, you knock before going into someone's house, you ask permission to use something that belongs to others, so what's different about a bike?
If I were to catch someone on my bike I'd start out with "excuse me!? Is that your bike? No? Well get off of mine, you don't have permission to touch my property." I've spent too much time and money for someone to ruin my dream, which is to own a nice bike.
